Have you ever come across a renaissance painting where Christ is depicted in a slightly funny way and wondered why eggs were used as a binding agent to produce tempera? Then you have come to the right place. At strangebabyjesusfaces.com we don't judge. We appreciate, educate and compare early-renaissance depictions of Jesus to slightly over-the-hill celebrities of the modern day. Based in Switzerland, this website remains completely neutral in the eternal debate of art history: should the facial expression of a Christ child be depicted as old and wise, thereby sacrificing its natural childlike look. Or should He be depicted as a natural, playful and innocent child, with the risk of losing His authority in the depiction. The bible has not yet answered this question and we have not either. Come here to learn or to laugh. Or to do both. Or to do neither.

At the very least, we hope you enjoy a selected variety of strange baby Jesus faces
